Fashion-Taos Style! is an elegant event reflecting the special style of our northern New Mexico community.
Guests will have an opportunity to meet the designers and purchase a one-of-a-kind creation. Guests will also enjoy a buffet dinner (included in the ticket price) and silent auction.
Proceeds benefit one-to-one mentoring programs for youth in Taos and Colfax Counties.
This year's designers will include:
• ELIZABETH JENKINS - HANDWOVEN DESIGNS •
Cantonese Coat, an Elizabeth Jenkins design
Elizabeth Jenkins has been creating hand-woven apparel in Taos since 1978. She employs a brilliant palette of yarns in silk, cotton, rayon, wool and mohair. While her styles are contemporary, her influences are from indigenous cultures around the world: Indonesia, Mexico, Guatemala, Thailand and Bolivia. Elizabeth's work includes a unique surface design process that adds pattern and design complexity to the woven fabric producing a stunning product.
• GAIL RUSSELL - SALLYGATORS •
Gail Russell is a photographic artist and designer living in Taos, New Mexico. She has a studio gallery where she exhibits and sells her photographic work along with her popular line of scarves and SallyGators® leg warmers. Inspired by Traditional Native American Women’s “Leggins” SallyGators are fashionable leg warmers for women and men. As protective, warm, leg gaiters to the knee, they are a good look with skirts and tights and a practical fashion accent for the Fall, Winter and Spring Seasons.
